My strength is that of many, not of a single person

The Wellington Howard League is an incorporated society made up of people from many walks of life — people who live or have lived in prison, students, academics, lawyers and others.
Our vision is of a more humane and effective response to crime. But, given the state of our prisons today, our focus is standing up for the rights of people in prison.
We do that by:
Providing information and advice to people in prison;
Campaigning on systemic issues in prisons;
Promoting access to justice for people in prison
Learn more about what we do.
We are independent of government and politically-unaffiliated. All of us are volunteers.
Although we are based in Poneke | Wellington, our members, and the people in prison that we help, are around the country . We work with other organisations, including other branches of the Howard League in Ōtautahi | Christchurch and Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland. The Howard League is the oldest prison reform movement in Aotearoa New Zealand, dating from 1925.
Please consider becoming a member of the Wellington Howard League. (You don’t have to be based in Wellington: our members are around the country). The more people in our corner, the stronger our voice, the more we can achieve.
Our League is led by a small Committee: Eesvan Krishnan (Chair); Rachel Vincent (Deputy Chair: Supporting Prisoners); Zoe Nathan (Secretary); Robyn Sullivan (Treasurer), Gregor Allan, Megan Dykes, Colin Fraser, Henrietta Harper, Madi Pomana, Sati Ravichandiren.
